//Week 1

Where my mind has been. What I have been up to. Here is to the first week back in San Fran. Haven't shoot much at all, but here is what I have shot.

Over this past weekend something horrible happend in the life of one of my friends and it got me thinking a lot. I will not go into too much detail, but basically she lost a friend forever, because he took his own life. This person was very close to her and my mind started turning. Everyone knows that you regret not saying things to people before they pass away, that you regret not telling them how much you love them or how much they have inspired you. That you couldn't find the words. 

This past weekend I have missed all of my friends and family more then I can possibly have imagined because I do not know what I would do without them. My family is my support. My friends are my inspiration. And the knowledge that they are all well keeps me going through the day.

I know that this might be a little corny and kind of silly, but for me and for my friends I went through and pulled out a bunch of photos of us through the years and made them into little slideshows. Watching them makes me smile.

There are so many things that are left unsaid, or that are not said enough and I thought that I would say a few words to those friends whom have given so much to me in my life thus far. In the next few days I write out those words. Again... I know its kind of corny but I watched a friend lose someone really close to her and I just couldn't imagine the pain. I couldn't imagine not telling someone how much I love them and how much they mean to me.

In the lobby of my dorm there is a board with the title: Resident of the Week.
And then it follows with: Art of...
And this week it was mine.
I was kind of excited and scared at the same time. While its not really a 'show' its the first time that my art has been shown in public for an extended period of time.

I have gotten some very nice comments from people in my dorm and it makes me feel good. I am glad that other people like my work. :-)

//Aspiring

I am an aspiring photographer. I would not call myself professional, not just yet, but it is something that I am diligently working towards. I love to shoot anything and my camera is basically attached to my hand. I think that it goes without saying, to those who know me, that I would spend nearly all my time taking photographs if life would permit me too. But, alas, there are other things that need to get done. My favorite subjects have got to be children, I think that their innocence shines through and photographs and I am happy to be able to capture the emotions that they so openly wear, without fear of what others will think. It is fun to have to work for good shots of children, you can take a picture of child sitting and smiling, or you can take a photograph of a child how they really are.

Since this is my first post to my blog it is going to be overly photo heavy. I think that having an overcap of what I have done before and recently will give a good starting point to how I grow and what I end up achieving. Another thing that I love to photograph is nature and flowers. It can be so hard to find a new angle on things because a lot of people have 'done it' before, but it is still fun to try.

Along with children, I just like to photograph people in general. I think there is something amazing about being able to tell a story, give a personality, or preserve a memory in a photograph. I am a strong believer in making prints, even now when everything is digital, there is just something almost magic about being able to see what once was. It gives a sense of moving foward and it helps to remind us of where we have been before. So far I have only had one real shoot/job. I didn't get paid for it, but I think it gave me some experience, it was an awards ceremony. Other than that I have only made photographs for people that I know and people that I am close to. I hope that soon I will be able to make photographs for other people; that I can make this not only my passion but my job. I am at school for photography at the moment in SF and I am enjoying my classes tremendously.
